Kick It!
Ian Helm and I collaborated with Cincinnati Childrens Hospital in a 6 month research and design project to develop a physical game for overweight and obese children 6 to 11 years old. We spent 3 months trolling the internet and hospital libraries, interviewing physical therapists, nutritionists, social workers, psychologists, pediatric cardiologists, pediatric bone development specialists, and fitness coordinators. Once we understood what levels of activity are acceptable for obese children, what physical activities currently exist, and what games are most addicting, we developed a physical game with a digital interface to engage and excite the children of the Healthworks! fitness program. When the Surgeon General declares obesity a national epidemic, Ian and I take it seriously.
Ford Flex
This project was directed by MKTG for Ford and Vocalpoint. Ford needed a hip and flashy yet realistic interactive experience to talk about their new product. I was responsible for all 2D/3D animation and the original site designs. Click here to experience the new Ford Flex!
Alzheimers Visual Language Interface
Doctors and medical researchers have hundreds of thousands of peer reviewed articles, experiment reports, and thesis papers to read when they are investigating causes and cures of Alzheimers. I developed this icon system with Ben Prince and Jen Rizzo in an attempt to help neurologists and scientists sort through vast amounts of information and make visual connections between areas that were hard to previously visualize. The Icon system was designed by Ben, Jen programmed the functioning prototype, while I designed the sentence formations and verb icons.
CAC Wayfinding Kiosk
The Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center is a modern architectural space designed by the world reknown Zaha Hadid. The administration realized that some people have difficulty navigating through the building. This touchscreen kiosk was designed to be placed on each floor and give the unfamiliar visitor quick access to public utilities.
Interactive Knowledge
Tom Wise and I developed a prototype for an online interface that helps users to visualize information in new ways. The end user can browse information through traditional searches or see information related visually. This spatial layout help users to see connections between data sets that they would not normally recognize. The Knowledge Journal is part peer review forum, publishing website, and experimental data navigation interface.
